So at this point you may well be thinking, what on earth is this blog about? Well, we want to shout about the good stuff happening in and around Chester. And there’s plenty of it. It’s an exciting time for the city, with plenty of talented individuals and groups organising various events and shows, encompassing things like art, live music and theatre. We’ve also seen the incredibly exciting opening of new cultural hub Storyhouse in the heart of the city. The other side of the We Are Chester coin is our desire to get a community together of like-minded culture vultures to write about and photograph – maybe even film – cultural goings on in Chester.
We also aim to document some of the work of those amazing people who are this city’s cultural lifeblood in the process, so you can expect the odd Sunday newspaper style profile piece here from time to time.
We could even be persuaded to dip our toes into the water of sharing some of the work of our fellow creatives, from photography and film to poetry and flash fiction.
Pardon the literary pun, but we are an open book as far as Chester’s cultural life is concerned. Let’s just see how this goes, shall we. Stay with us – this is going to be fun.
And here’s a little bit of history. We were inspired to set up We Are Chester after meeting the founders of the incredible award-winning We Are Cardiff blog. They supported us in getting We Are Chester off the ground some two years back and we are proud to call them our sister site. Big thanks or should we say diolch yn fawr iawn to team We Are Cardiff. If you ever head Cardiff way for a city break or even on business then you won’t go wrong looking at their thoughts and tips on good stuff to see and do in the amazing Welsh capital city.
