Charities in Chester have told of how touched they have been with the level of support shown for the people of Ukraine.
Charities such as the Share Shop, Save the Children and the British Heart Foundation have told of the donations of cash and clothing which will help Ukrainians who have fled the country or who remain there following the invasion by Russia.
Jo Young, manager of Chester’s Save the Children charity shop, said: “Save the Children in Chester has been giving lots of donations – cash donations from its customers – as extra help for the people in Ukraine.”
Vivien Devlin from the Share Shop said: “We put out a campaign asking for clothing, toiletries, nappies and supplies like that and all of those came flooding through our doors.”
She added: “The donations went to a huge warehouse and some of our volunteers and hundreds of other volunteers went there, sorting through the donations.”
The Share charity has raised over £12,000 for the people of Ukraine.
