Chester pubs and bars come together for Ukraine brewery fundraiser
By Vivian Onyekwere
Pubs and bars in Chester have come together to show their support for Ukraine through sales of beer from breweries in Ukraine.
Beer wholesalers Euroboozer have organised a Ukraine fundraiser called #DrinkersForUkraine, to support the people of Ukraine and the breweries over there. Euroboozer is asking for support from UK pubs, bars, restaurants and retailers through selling this beer.
Pubs and bars in Chester including That Beer Place, Artichoke and Bluestone are selling the special beer and have told We Are Chester how they intend to use the profit made to support the people of Ukraine.
Dale Lord, manager of That Beer Place on Foregate Street, said: “We are working with a wholesaler who has managed to get some beer out of Ukraine – an amazing effort, considering they are in the middle of a war zone right now – and bring it over to the UK to sell to bottle shops like ourselves.”
He added: “We have decided that, from the beer we buy from them, any profit that we make selling it on to consumers will go directly to aid the humanitarian effort.”
Thor Brown, manager of Artichoke, which is on Steam Mill Street just off City Road, said: “We jumped at the chance of selling the beer. All the profits go to helping the people of Ukraine.”
